The European Anti-bullying Certification project for Schools kicks off in Amsterdam


The kick-off meeting of the project “European Anti-Bullying Certification (ABC) was held on 11 and 12 January 2018 in Amsterdam. The E-ABC (European Anti-Bullying Certification) project was granted by the Dutch Erasmus+ authority and will be implemented by 7 partners active in the field of preventing and tackling of bullying.

More specifically, the partners of the project are the European Antibullying Network (EAN), Global Alliance for LGBT Education (GALE) from the Netherlands, The Smile of the Child from Greece, Villa Montesca and CESIE organizations from Italy, Merseyside Expanding Horizons from the UK and ACCESO (Asociación Cívica de Comunicación y Educación “Sophia” from Spain.

The aim of the project is to develop a certification process to support schools in developing an effective anti-bullying policy that will include proper attention to social inclusion issues and conflict management among students and school staff.

The projec will be implemented within the next 24 months and each partner will develop a specific cooperation with a school. The support to schools will be realized through a concrete process that will include research, staff training and the development of a toolkit. The final deliverable of the project will be the implementation of a strategy and a process of certification that will be realized in the course of a school year. The lead partner of the project is GALE organization, whereas the European Antibullying Network (EAN) will disseminate and sustain the certification procedure all across Europe.

The objective of this first meeting was to exchange of views on the next steps and planning of the project and its activities. During the meeting, the actions and methodology of the project were presented and a thorough discussion about the project deliverables took also place. The discussion gave the opportunity to partners to share their views and decide on certain aspects that need to be highlighted in the course of the implementation of the project. The next meeting of the project is planned to take place in September 2018 in Italy.
