The Partnership

Europe's ABC (Anti-Bullying Campaign) will bring together 6 countries from across Europe to provide a national focal point of reference on the issue of bullying for all those that may be victims, offenders or in some other way affected by bullying.

The applicant organisation and partners are all active in the area of bullying prevention in its various situatuational forms and each have worked with schools, parents and children in their respective countries.

The Smile of the Child receives thousands of calls each year from children and from parents on how to deal with the issue of bullying.  The organisation's psychologists and social workers, as part of the organisation's school programme with the Ministry of Education, attend schools throughout Greece and speak to parents, teachers and students on bullying.  They have been called upon by the Cybercrime Unit of the Greek Police to provide counselling and support to children that have been victims of cyber-bullying and have also been invited by the media to provide information on bullying when there has been an incident that has caught the public's attention.

Partners of the project in Bulgaria, Estonia, Italy, Latvia and Lithuania have also actively worked on prevention programmes on bullying in their respective countries and have developed an expertise in the field. The Italian partner, SOS Telefono Azzurro, published a booklet on bullying entitled "Il Bullismo" and the Latvian partner, Children and Youth Trust Phone, has participated in the Olweus Bullying Preventing Programme in Latvian schools in 2007.

All partners have Child Helplines that have counselled parents, children and teachers that have had to deal with bullying.

The applicant and partners are all members of Child Helplines International (CHI) and have worked together on European projects. The Smile of the Child and Telefono Azzurro in Italy are also members of Missing Children Europe.  All 6 organisations have extensive experience in dealing with the issue of bullying.  The websites and telephone Helplines of all the organisations will be used in Europe’s ABC project and to promote the project during the life of the project.
